I wonder if new people get to paint Mickey Mouse heads immediately or if they break you in with body parts of his bootleg cousin, Malokey Mouse

Hemmy.net did a gallery of Chinese toy factory workers. I find the above picture especially haunting because the parts being assembled look vaguely like the stuff I buy. I have a gut feeling that somewhere in the roboplastico assembly process there's a young Chinese factory worker scraping by on crappy wages so I can spend thousands of dollars making my shelves look ugly with toy robots. To be fair, it was never specifically stated that this picture was taken at a certain world famous toy robot manufacturer's plant and the items being assembled in most of the pictures aren't even recognizable as any famous character or mascot. However, those products in the 16th and 17th photos are definitely Mickey Mouse and Spongebob Squarepants.

Thankfully, I won't have Chinese factory workers on my conscience much longer. Takara is moving much of its production out of China and into Taiwan and Vietnam.

Also recommended reading for the citizens of Macrocrania is Hemmy's tour of a Japanese sex doll factory. Don't go if you don't want to see fake boobs.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure which one I'd rather have. On one hand, the Japanese sex doll would never have a headache or ever give you any crap. But on the other hand, the Chinese factory worker might be able to snag you some sweet roboplastico goodness before anyone else could get their hands on it.

Bahhh, it's all just wishful thinking, Ms. Heavyarms prolly wouldn't let either one slide.

The people in those pics are as excited to be making toys and I am in buying them these days.

Those girls look as excited as Cleveland from Family Guy talks. I think they should take parts home and sell them on eBay. There's a build-a-figure for ya.

I cannot fault them for their lack of enthusiasm but my movie Bumblebee was such a piece of crap that I think the factories need to implement some sort of employee moral program. Give them gold star stickers or something. Then again, maybe they couldn't figure out what the Transformer movie toys were supposed to look like and that's why they assembled them poorly.

Transformer workers have it so easy, though. I respect anyone who can paint smiles on Mickey Mouse faces for 18 hours a day without going totally batshit crazy.

Check out the 23rd photo. Chinese toy makers get to sleep on the job. No fair!

I would like to see a zany network sitcom about Chinese toy factory workers. In one episode the foreman could catch those girls sleeping under the table and they'd pop up with crazy expressions on their faces and then a Benny Hill style super fast chase would go on throughout the factory. Then it'd end with the two girls getting fired and sent to prison for some good ol' fashioned Chinese water torture.

That'd be the ONLY episode, don't you think? Not exactly formulaic for network sitcoms.

Oh contraire, mon frere. What about the episode where the Chinese toy factory foreman yells, "I SAID THE PAINT NEEDED MORE RED, NOT MORE LEAD!"

I would definitely watch that!
