You and I are abou...Yeah, I'm kind of the same. You and I are about the same age which means we were only around 3 when Micronauts debuted and 5 when they were at their peak two years later. So we were hardly sentient enough to have that toy collector mentality/awareness that doesn't hit until around 10 years old.

When I was 5 I had the dorky clown robot (the betatron I think), but I never really knew what it was until a couple years ago when I spotted one in a newspaper ad during Vintage Space Toast Tour Pittsburgh. That goes to show how being old enough to play with toys doesn't mean you're old enough to really be a fan of them.

The only reason I remember them is because I had a much older cousin who was very much into the sci-fi toy scene. I remember going over to his house and seeing the Battle Cruiser and Hydro Copter. Then in '79 when I was in kindergarten there was one kid who would bring his Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica and Micronauts toys to school. He was like a toy savant because his collection defied my toy sentience theory. Ultimately it was only through secondary exposure that I was aware of the Micronauts line when it was happening.Evil King Macrocranioshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01693211146604544544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37301459.post-8665948967962092222009-08-05T11:44:18.899-07:002009-08-05T11:44:18.899-07:00Yeah, I'd say you the hit the jackpot several ...Yeah, I'd say you the hit the jackpot several times over.

And I am ashamed to admit, but I cannot remember Micronauts at all. There are zero memories of these toys in my brain. Same with Star Team. Was I just not paying attention or something?Weaselhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08059654085619607002noreply@blogger.com
