I...I think I missed out by not having one as a kid. I was never very critical of my toys or all worried about articulation as a kid. My imagination was more than able to compensate for design shortcomings in whatever I was playing with. It would just have been nice to have anything besides the Voltron I built from Legos. Back then was really the only time it counted. Now 25 years later it's somewhat pointless.

Yeah I heard about Toynami selling the plastic Voltrons at SDCC. It was something ridiculously limited like only 20 pieces. Collection DX reported that the only difference between the SDCC release and regular release was the color of the box handle. I haven't seen any good pictures of plastic Voltron that would answer my question about the amount of chrome it has compared to the Masterpiece version. Are you going to put up your Toynami booth pictures? I've been waiting for you write your thoughts on what you saw from Toynami at SDCC.Evil King Macrocranioshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01693211146604544544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37301459.post-57019743379901398162008-08-14T23:39:00.000-07:002008-08-14T23:39:00.000-07:00You didn't really miss out too much on owning a Vo...You didn't really miss out too much on owning a Voltron, dude. As I'm sure I've said somewhere else in your blog, I went a little Voltron crazy a couple years ago and bought like two or three of those Panosh Place Voltrons as well an old Matchbox one. While I did think they were cool and all that they weren't any more or less awesome than, say G1 Transformers or the high-end Robotech/Macross stuff. I actually thought the Matchbox Lion Voltron was kind of overhyped after getting one. I think I actually ended up liking the Trendmasters one better AAMOF.
But yeah, I definitely recommend buying the plastic edition of the Masterpiece Voltron. They actually were selling those along with the $150 version at the Comic Con and they had both versions displayed behind glass and the plastic one looked just as kick-ass as the diecast one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37301459.post-31658952325891957672008-08-14T21:21:00.000-07:002008-08-14T21:21:00.000-07:00Murdering and garbage reminds me of how mom said s...Murdering and garbage reminds me of how mom said she just wants me to be happy. There's so much pressure from inside and out to be happy and not a lot of guidance on how to do that. I'm getting overwhelmed by all these recurring themes and messages in society urging me to do what makes me happy, except it's hard to figure out how to get there. What if I find being a garbageman makes me happy? What if I find being a murderer makes me happy? Right now I'm just trying to find out if a $50 plastic Voltron will do the trick.Evil King Macrocranioshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01693211146604544544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37301459.post-71246186626991986552008-08-14T21:14:00.000-07:002008-08-14T21:14:00.000-07:00I think I'm going through a phase where I'm second...I think I'm going through a phase where I'm second guessing every decision I've ever made in life. The latest little bout was with feelings of having missed out on something somewhere but not knowing quite what that was, and matching that up against my lifetime of not owning a Voltron made for some funny writing I think. "The community college of Voltron releases" is my favorite thing I've written recently. If this is the kind of material I can expect out of a midlife crisis then I'm looking forward to my next introspective self doubting emotional meltdown.Evil King Macrocranioshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01693211146604544544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37301459.post-52529020089194521892008-08-14T19:44:00.000-07:002008-08-14T19:44:00.000-07:00Esteban, don't feel bad about college. There are some Voltron fans that don't like that an all plastic Voltron is being released and then there are super die hard Voltron fans that don't like that this mold is being called a "Masterpiece". Never mind that this is the most articulated, show accurate version of the character ever. I think it could be made of magical space lion metal from the planet Arus and people would still complain about it. Then again this is Toynami and QC issues aren't exactly unprecedented with those guys. I'll bet $50 that all plastic will do this mold good, though.Evil King Macrocranioshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01693211146604544544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37301459.post-21441479416228457532008-08-14T17:58:00.000-07:002008-08-14T17:58:00.000-07:00Dammit, now I want a plastic Masterpiece Voltron.Dammit, now I want a plastic Masterpiece Voltron.Heavyarmshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10182671538096799844noreply@blogger.com
